I would like to show you some pictures showing this sort of pest and I hope some of you can help me how can I control and stop this strange thing .... pleace... Best regards, Gabriel
Hi Gabriel, I have searched for hours and can't find what it is. I suspect it might be some type of gall mite but I've found nothing about it. I did find this site that I'm including with the highlighted (cached) version. http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache...thofagus+antarctica&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=10 The parasitic fungus Cyttaria is also called golf ball fungus but appears to grow on the bark. http://images.google.com/images?q=Cyttaria&ndsp=20&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&start=0&sa=N I did find this site from Noticias UACh. Maybe they can help you id your pest. http://www.uach.cl/rrpp/online/ver.php?not=6220 If you find out what it is I would love to know. Newt
Ginger, I think what you are referring to is what we call gall mites or gall wasps. Their larvae are in the gall on the leaf. Newt
