hello i went to the bronx zoo one day and up on a hill i saw a plant that looked like a palm tree so i took a picture of it to see if i could find out what kind of plant it is. does any know what the name of this plant is or have any idea ? thank you..
Looks like a Yucca spp to me - maybe Y. elephantipes or Y. guatemalensis - it's tough to say which one exactly without seeing its toes.
Palm trees don't have linear leaves. Looks more like a Dasylirion. Cannot be sure from that distance. Yucca elephantipes and Y.guatemalensis are the same species. Not cold hardy in the Bronx, though.
I'm thinking Yucca thompsoniana/rostrata owing to their hardiness, trunking habit and gray green leaves. HTH Chris
