Strange flower

    I found this plant in a greenhouse, they didn't know what it was and I can't find it in my plant books, dark green leaves, top and bottom, black /gray "flowers", flowers are hard to the touch, very fungus looking, no smell. I'm in Costa Rica, but I don't know if that the plant is native. Thanks for any help.

    Thanks for the info, I've always been interested in botany, I have a few good plant identification handbooks, for the novice, but nothing like a good textbook to get the classification of a specific species, thanks again,
