Strange Flower/Seed Pod

    These were in a bouquet of mixed flowers received over Easter and I have never seen anything like them before they are about 6" long in size

    Not sure if they are the flowers of a plant or a seed head so any assistance identifying them would be appreciated

    I think they are dried Protea buds... (P. neriifolia?)
