I have a huge stone crop sedum plant that was given to me. When I replanted it, A lot of the stems broke off. The guy who gave it to me said you can just stick them in the ground and they will re-root. Is this true? Since so many plants broke off of the main plant, I am worried that it won't survive. Anyone have any experience with these? I have replanted it in a sunny to part shade location. Should I cut it down to a few inches and let it start over?

oh, yes!! anything that broke off and was then planted should root. as long as the piece is a couple inches long, it should root with no problem. might not see too much growth on it this season though.

don't know if these die back during winter in your area (don't know your zone). they do here and, as long as the new pieces established roots, they'll come back next spring. as will the main plant that has all the roots begin with.

they're extremely hardy once they've gotten roots going.
