Hello - I'm trying to identify a stinky shrub that grows in my neighborhood in Seattle. It is evergreen, has fairly tough leaves with smooth (or possibly very small serations) edges, flower are white composite "bunches" that turn into small bluish berries. It smells (to my olfactory system) like dirty feet, especially strong in rain or heat. I looked at a tag on one of the plants and while it's faded out, it looks like Laurent--something. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Welcome jhtracy. Is it the flowers that smell horrid? Ligustrum flowers smell foul.. a bit like cats pee! Common name here Privet. A picture would help to id it.

Hi - No, it's definitely not privet. I rather think it's the foliage that smells.
