HELLO TO ALL,I ONLY HAVE ONE ROSE BUSH A ONCE VERY COMMON VARIETY IN THE YUCATAN PENN WHERE I LIVE.HAVE TRIED TO PROPAGATE IT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW FROM A CUTTING following advice received in this forum but with no luck.THIS PLANT COMES FROM A CUTTING OF A CUTTING OF A CUTTING maybe 4 times over. I WONDER IF THAT METHOD OF PROPAGATION RUNS OUT AFTER SO MANY GENERATIONS.I HAVE TRIED TAKING HEALTHY CUTTINGS,DIPPING THEM IN ONE OF SEVERAL SUGGESTED PRODUCT KEPT THE CUTTINGS IN GREENHOUSE LIKE CONDITIONS BUT THEY ALWAYS DIE OFF.LAST FALL I CHANGED AS MUCH OF THE SOIL IN THE POT WHERE THE ROSE BUSH IS AND IT SEEMS HEALTHIER AND HAS GROWN MORE THAN IT HAS DONE IN YEARS.I PRUNE IT DOWN ALSO EVERY YEAR.MAYBE I SHOULD JUST BE SATISFIED WITH THE ONE PLANT.ANY NEW FEEDBACK PLEASE? THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL ADVICE RECEIVED.
The age of the rose bush shouldn't have any effect on the viablity of the cutting. Heres a link to propagating roses from cutting that I find work quite well. http://stason.org/TULARC/crafts/rose-gardening/18-How-do-I-propagate-roses.htmlg

Cuttings too juvenile Hormone concentration too strong Rooting environment too hot and wet... Surf internet for much discussion of roses from cuttings.
