Stewartria Rostrata did not bloom

    Is it common for this type of tree to skip a bloom? This is about 6 feet now and bloomed last year around June. This year we have seen no blooms. However a friend of ours picked off all the buds last year (without our permission). We planted the tree 3 summers ago.

    Thanks for any advice.
