I am just starting out with growing a peach tree and I need all sorts of info on them. How long it takes, how to water, and more. Even planting them! And my friend would like to know if it is possible to grow them from a seed in a peach at the grocery store. However much I am not sure, I just need to answer him on that. It really is interesting. Anyhow, I would really appreciate it if some one could give me an answer. I'll be happy for any help.

Not sure where you are located in the Midwest, but here are links to info ongrowing peaches from Michigan and Missouri.

    http://extension.missouri.edu/explore/agguides/hort/g06030.htm

    http://web1.msue.msu.edu/fruit/peach.htm

Both are good sources for "all sorts of info."

University extension offices are good references for general and "how to" info about food plants for the home grower. Anytime I want to find info about growing a crop plant, one of the first searches I do on the internet is for the "crop" and "extension".

You can grow peaches from the seed of a fruit you have eaten, but I would not recommend it if you want to grow fruit for the home garden. The plant that results will not likely be the best choice. The fruit was probably a hybrid and was suited to the area where it was grown. The fruit of the plant that would grow from that seed will not likely taste like the parent and may not be well suited to your environment. Better to choose a tree that is well suited to your environment and needs. As a fun experiment, growing trees from seed is great. And, one never knows, you might get something special.
