I was just given a stag horn fern and there is some fuzzy dust looking stuff on the leaves and when I look at a clump of it under the microscope it is octopus looking but not obviously a life form. I know this plant stayed in a garage for awhile and it does look as if it may be dust, or even pollen perhaps, I just don't know. Can anyone advise, please? Thanks!!

Staghorn's do have a vaguely whitish, almost webby looking coat on... it's normal.

It may be normal, but the person who gave it to me has another one that doesn't look that way. And the fact that it sat in a garage may point to pollen or dust. Now I'm going to start looking at more stuff under the microscope, there's a whole 'nother world under there!!! Thanks for the help! :)
