I have a problem with my peanut plants, new to growing these and the greenery is being eaten by some white bugs, they are kinda dusty on the outside and about 0.5" long, what are they and more importantly how do I get rid of them? Would prefer to do organic gardening if possible by planting something next to them which would work as a deterrent, and also the same with sweet potatos, what can I plant next to them which would keep the dreaded weevil away? Thanks to all in advance

I don't know what they are, but one of the things I use to get rid of bugs is DE(diatomaceous earth). Diatomaceous earth consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. It is sharp (to the bugs) and cuts them up, killing them. I use food grade because I use it as flea control on my animals. You can get pool grade from a swimming pool store. I ordered mine online from EBay, got two gallon sized bags and still have most of one bag over 3 years later. There is alot of info online, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ei=FT5qStbvK5DElAfg84XdCQ&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=diatomaceous+earth&spell=1
This is a google search with tons of info.

    Good luck
