my squash each had one squash and the rest of the flowers bloom and die off. What's causing this?Do they need to be hand polinated/ My scarlet runner beans flowers are now doing the same thing???

    Good Morning Koigal,
I was having the same problem. One day I decided to visit the plot several times during the day. Observation? Not a single insect. There are several species of bumble and natives bees in my yard but why none of them visited the squash (Blue Kuri), melon (Collective Farm Woman) and watermelon (Golden Midget) patch is beyond me. For the last two years, I have not seen a single honeybee. I did hand pollination and now have several melons and squashes although I'm not sure if there is sufficient time left for them to mature. Just hoping and praying for a longer summer. You have a longer growing season and may want to do some hand pollination.
    Peace

    Thanks Thean
I'll try polinating them what's strange is they all have one veg except the spagetti squash that has 6 .earlier there was no problem with polination but now there seems to be as my scarlet runners have some beans but now the flowers are just falling off.We do have a few bees and we'll clean out blue mason bee condo's my dh made several years ago and hope for better next year. It's been very hot here for us but have been watering so don't think that's the problem
