Spruce Tree: Can you figure this one out?

    The botany photo of the day with the Giant Sequoia and it's opening, reminded me of one of my photos.

    It's a spruce. But different from the Sequoia, this spruce does not have any damage.

    Based off experiences and what you have seen in forests, see if you can determine the cause of this Spuce having a part between two trunks. I don't really think it's due to a nusery log.

    If the link or image goes to the wrong slot, it should still be in my tree care albums somewhere - a spruce with a parted trunk.
