During the Winter I buy maples only from reputable sources and, because of that, I have no surprises in Spring. However this Spring has been the exception and I have had one surprise. A maple, labeled Coral Pink, from a very well known Dutch supplier, has resulted in something else. I understand that even the best sometimes make mistakes. The cultivar I got is not one of the 60+ I have in my garden so I am very interested to find out what it is. I have looked at the pictures in Vertrees and, ahem!, Van Gelderen but could not find it. It looks like one of the Yatsubusas, the petioles are short and the (green) leaves cluster in layers around the twig. Any hints? Gomero
Maybe Not? What makes you think it is not Coral Pink? The emergent leaf color, I suppose. I have a Coral Magic (maybe the same or similar) that I got this spring and the leaf shape and characteristics, while larger, are simlar to yours in color. I might wait before you rule out that you don't have what you think you have. Michael
Hmmm, daring suggestion Michael. It is true that I thought , maybe naively ;o), that a Coral Pink should display some pink when leafing out (like the Wilson's pink dwarf that I bough at the same time and is really 100% pink). However if someone confirms that there are other cases of 100% green Coral Pinks, then I'll know that I am wrong. Regards, Gomero
