I haven't had too much chance to take pictures this year, but have been enjoying everyone's gardens. Here are a few I took in the beginning of the month of May: A. shirasawanum, showing the give-away upright flowers; AP 'Koto no ito' with 'Utsu semi', A. tegmentosum and 'Kinran' (counter clockwise from right); AP 'Orangeola' with A. triflorum and A. pensylvanicum in backdrop.

    Very nice trees.

I can see that some of your trees are on a cement/stone terrace and in ceramic pots : that wouldn't make it here, it's too hot in summer and such pots are keeping the heat of the day during the night, and the atmosphere is thus drier. That's why I'm gradually repotting mine in plastic pots, much less elegant, but much better for their health.

But of course, we don't have "English weather" here. It's been moderatly rainy in the past two weeks, and mild, but we'll have about 30°C on Sunday...

    86F, can you figure that?...

Thanks very much. Yes I am also currently trying to figure out a repotting schedule. I have got a handful of large plastic pots ready for my bigger babies. I just need to figure out the right potting soil now. I have read so much about different things to mix into the soil. Up until I joined this forum a few weeks ago I thought just using Ericaceous compost was good enough. On another note here is a pic of an Atropurpureum that I picked up yesterday as there was a closing down sale in our local Homebase. It is small and a couple of the upper leaves look like they are dying but the new growth looks good. Oh and a pic of my new BIG pots.

Just finished washing the dishes, at least i had something nice to look at out of the kitchen window :) (really do need to get rid of that large shrub it's blocking the view!!)

Luke watch the size of your pots, looking at your trees you dont need to go over the 40ltr size, remember the time you have taken the old medium out and root pruned you will be bringing the size of the tree down just allow for this.

Wow - What an incredible view. I love the arrangement of shapes and colours. You have an amazing garden.

Thanks for the advice on the repotting. I will wait till early winter after the leaves have fallen before I make a start.

I brought my younger trees out for a bit sun today while it was a bit cooler and it gave me chance to have a proper look at some new growth. Here are a few pics. I realise they aren’t as magnificent as most of the trees posted on here but I’m enjoying them very much.
