I have a magnificent erithrina lisestratom that must be about 30 years old in my garden in the Bay Area. It was hard pruned about 10 weeks ago (a lot of the woody dead branches) after the main flowering period was over..I have seen scant new growth and now a brown spotting on the back-side of the remaining leaves. I am very concerned lest this be some kid of blight affecting this treasured tree.. What do you recommend?
Not clear what you mean. My understanding of the build up of dead branches is that this is 'natural' for this woody/deciduous tree...are you saying that the leaves simply trn brown this way as part of the life cycle???or am I misunderstanding your intent?
It's hard to recommend without knowing for sure what is wrong... brown spotting could be many things; yes blight, or some kind of baterial leaf spot - is there any yellowing?
