Does anyone know the species (or genus) of this twisty plant that someone photographed in Chile? http://www.pbase.com/plants_etc/image/23300770 It might not be a native of Chile.
Thanks. There don't appear to be any spines in the photo i posted, but the Cereus has noticeable spines: http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/CE...s_forbesii/Cereus_forbesii_v_spiraliforme.htm Could it be a different species?
I believe it could be an Echinocereus. Several species have very little spination and deep ribs. A picture of the flower would be best for ID as many cacti come in many forms, Echino's have very distinct and elaborate flowers.
