I found a plant in Northern Michigan, similar in appearance to a small wild raspberry vine, but covered with many more spines, much closer together. They had brown seed pods about 1-1/2" to 2" long and 3/8" in diameter, the seedpods are also covered with 1/8" spines. Inside are tiny brown speckled, bean shaped seeds suspended from one side of the pod (like peas in a peapod). I collected a couple of bristly pod and made sure to leave several for natural propagation. There weren't any leaves at the time of year when I found these pods so I have been unable to identify this shrub/vine like plant. I thought of planting some of the seeds to see what the leaves look like but I am very conscious of moving what could be an invasive species. Does anyone know what kind of plant these pods came from?
This is my first post so I haven't tried to supply a picture yet. Thanks for your help.
