    Hi all,

I have noticed that all the spider plants I have been seeing this year to be quite weak. They grow so slow and product very tiny babies. I was given one and it took so long to root. In the past they would grow and root very fast..I find this very strange. Has anyone else noticed this??

I have a few myself and the all green one seems a little weak this year, not growing much as well as it did before, a leaf now and then with will brown and wilt for no apparent reason, but I think it's just not getting enough light is all, and needs to be moved.
When they were outside all last summer with more light, they grew like weeds! Lots of cool days and rain this year might be some of the problem!

Make sure they are getting plenty of light as well as water before becoming "dust bone dry" but close to dry without the leaves wilting. It might be a good idea to check the roots to be sure none are severely root-bound with not enough soil to supply enough nutrients. Over-potting wouldn't be good either. They seem to do better when on the root-bound side.
If you haven't fertilized in a while, that might help, maybe some new fresh soil.

Thanks Bluewing :) When it comes to my spider plant I think it needs more light. I fertilize with a weak solution of Miracle Grow and I water when the top gets a bit dry and the pot is light.

    MrsGreenthumbs,

Maybe next year will be a better year weather wise, with a lot more sunnier days and stronger growing spiders!

Mine are an outside plant and are strong and growing well. Lack of light will make them miserable.

I have one on a rockery and another in a big pot on a garden table.

I hope so as I love to give the babies away to friends and family :)
