Identification: Species ID Tree from Honduras

    I have germinated a tree from a seed pod collected near Copan Ruinas, Honduras. The seed was started in April 2006, the tree is now over 30 cm tall, diameter at base 20 mm. The leaves are compound, 18 + leaflets non serated. I hope the photos can help.

    Possibly something in the Meliaceae (for example, compare the fruit of Swietenia mahagoni with what you have.

    I'd also like to direct you to this thread re: importation of seed into Canada (particularly the initial reply by Douglas Justice)

    Yes Meliaceae, compare also with Cedrela
