This plant is from southern Spain, dry desert like area. I don't know if it is native to this area, I don't think so. Latin or english name pls?
Mycelis muralis. Widely distributed throughout Europe. http://linnaeus.nrm.se/flora/di/astera/mycel/mycemur.html
Thank you for helping me. I've now been informed it's a bush, about 2-2.5 meters high and 2-3 meters wide. Full of flowers in the month of Decemnber in Spain.
If it is a woody shrub, then not Mycelis muralis (which is a herbaceous plant growing to 1m tall or a little more at most). Can you get a photo of the foliage?
I'll try. It's at my parents home in Spain and I live in Sweden, but I'll try getting my mother to take a picture of it, though not in bloom atm.
Thank you David, I think it is Senecio petasites. Michael, I would like to post a pic of the bush but my mother does not know where it is so I can't, not until I'm there next christmas at least.
Senecio is a large and diverse genus, even after subtracting all the currently recognised segregate genera. There are probably a number of species with flowerheads more or less like this. But one possibility I will suggest is S. tamoides (from S Africa), grown as an ornamental in warm climates. It has a scrambling habit but can mound up into a large shrub. Here's a pic of it I took just recently.
