Hello everyone. I am interested in growing pears as a hobby for perry making. The specific species that I am looking for are as follows: Blakeney Red Brandy Yellow Huffcap Normannischen Ciderbirne Moorcroft Rock Does anyone know where I may be able to obtain scions for these species?
The Brogdale National Fruit Collection in Britain has Blakeney Red, Brandy, Yellow Huffcap, and Moorcroft, and can propagate on request: "Almost all the varieties that cannot be found in Plant Sales can be grafted from the trees in the National Fruit Collection. The cost of this is £35 per tree, we will grow the graft on, monitoring its health for a season, ready to plant out the following winter." I doubt though that they'd be able to export to Canada because of plant health regulations, or at least only at great expense to get the necessary phytosanitary certification. Might be worth checking if you can't find them anywhere else. http://www.brogdale.org/nfc_plants1.php?plantid=38
