    Hello,

I am new on this board, hope that I won't mess it up with my first post...

I am looking after a few kaki persimmon trees (the hardiest and early ripening ones like Sheng, Saijo, Jiro, Great Wall, etc). I intend to grow them on a trial basis, in pots or containers with protection in winter. Does anybody know a source for asian persimmons in Canada (a mail order nursery would be fine)? There are several sources in USA but I would prefer to buy from within Canada to avoid the import process.

About 20 years ago I had about a dozen of kaki varieties on trial in my courtyard here in Quebec for about 4-5 years. The true challenge is not really winter hardiness once the decision is taken to store the container-grown kakis in a basement during winter but our short summer season that hardly allows enough time for the fruit to ripen fully.

    Thanks in advance!
