Can someone, anyone, please tell me what this flower is??? It was found by a pond in Mendocino, CA it has a sepal like that of an opium poppy, but the rest of it behaves like a flower from a lily pad. That's all we've been told, there are a few of us trying to figure out what this could be. Any help would be wonderful! Thank you!

Nevermind, after some deeper searching with the thought of pond lily i found it! A yellow pond lily, cow lily, or spatterdock...Now if anyone knows how this one changed color, naturally, on it's own. Decay or a genetic relative? THAT would be greatly appreciated!

A species of Nuphar (Yellow Waterlily). Not Nelumbo, which has a different carpel structure.
