I got a lovely little potted succulent as a gift - but there were no directions indicating what sort of light it does best in, how often to water, etc. As I have in the past had bad luck with plants.. I'd love to know what sort of plant this little fellow is, and how to best care for it. :)

    Thanks in advance!

looks like it's a faucaria. they're extremely picky about moisture - i've never managed to get it right (i've both under watered and over watered). pretty little plants with nice flowers if you've got the knack for them!

Eep! Well I will have to keep an eye on it and see if I can't get it to flower... I'll post pictures if and when it does!

Looks like a Haworthia to me.

The leaves are pretty interesting looking - the tips are dark and striped and somewhat waxy, and closer to the base of the leaf, they turn less waxy and lighter.

Wish my phone would take a better closeup!

the second pic is too blurry.

i took another look at the first one and zoomed in a bit. david seems to be correct. haworthia.

good for you, cuz, they're not as finicky as faucaria. still, go light on water - they don't like too much either.

Whew, well that's good. :) I had a feeling the second picture was too blurry - iphones apparently hate zooming in on things. Blah. :)

    Thanks very much!
