[SEARCH][/SEARCH]it's pretty much that simple My garden is on Fire Island, a barrier island off of NY, pretty much at the 1st / 2nd dune. In a wholly sandy soil, OK complete sand... Within a field of dune grass, but yet in very close proximity to scruff pine, juniper, bayberry, etc. ( development and recent hurricanes have screwed up the natural order, so I understand if the location seems "curious" ). I have several clumps of orange butterfly weed, on a slightly sloped plot. ? Consistently... Some clumps bloom; some do not. Does anyone have any thoughts why (or why not)? This year I'll start to document if they are the same ones; I'm not 100% certain that they are.... With many thanks in advance, Mark
Your jpg (see edit) didn't come through. How to attach images Those that don't flower may be not mature enough. Asclepias tuberosa starts flowering in its third year.
Hmmm 3 yrs, not 2. OK. Think this might be the third, but I really don't recall if I planted spring or fall; so I'll wait till next summer which clearly be 3, and which I'm sure will tell all... Thanks much BTW about the images: I apologize; I suspect I need to be on a PC, vs. an IPad which I am. So, when I get back to the mainland, I'll give it a try yet again...
