Wildflowers: Some Kind Of Heliconia? (Colombia)

    Unfortunately I did not capture the whole plant with leaves. However the stalk looks like it might be Heliconia though the flower is not like any Heliconia I´ve ever seen. Any ideas what it might be?

    Definitely something in the ginger family... You don't happen to have pictures of the leaves, do you?

    Thank you. No I don´t know why I overlooked getting the leaf. Ginger is a good lead though.

    Check Renealmia as a genus - it's got very similar inflorescences.

    That´s an interesting lead. I´ve got lots of Renealmia alpinia here abouts but the plant above was in another departamento where I encountered many plants I haven´t seen here.
