Some kind of conifer

    When I used to live in nothern california I took photos of this nice tree. I don't know what it is.

    Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) I would guess ... but I'm not much good at IDing so wait for someone else to verify

    Looks like Picea glauca.

    Picea glauca. The cone has smoothly rounded scales which counts out P. sitchensis.

    Thanks for the help. They produce alot of seeds in their cones. They are not very fast growing in pots but I got some seedlings.

    As I said, I'm not much good at ID :P but Ron is an ID god ... I thank Michael for showing me my error ... now to put the cone on my head and go back to my corner LOL.

    Sitka spruce is a vigorous tree with an open habit, quite stiff of needle and branch. Cones are bigger than one appears in this shot, apart from other details (as mentioned).
