Good day, I am Marta from Bucharest, Romania. This winter I received a potted lemon tree from someone who was selling his house and garden. The tree is quite big and was kept outside during summers. After being quite well during this winter inside my apartment,on a closed balcony not heated, now it seems it doesn't enjoy warmer temperatures. On some leaves it has small water like solid drops. What is it? I can send some pictures if needed. Thank you, Marta
it is most likely honeydew, a common secretion from various kinds of insects such as aphids and scale. Here is a link with some info on honeydew: What Is Honeydew: Tips On How To Remove Honeydew From Cars And Plants
I can see from the photo you have scale insects. Here is an article on dealing with scale insects: How to Control Scale Insects | Planet Natural
Thank you very much. I have cut off all the spotted leaves(around 30) and now I want to see if it happens again. If so I'll try with alcohol on some cotton, as recommended it the article you send me the link. Does it need a lot of water (it has about 150cm high)? During winter I gave it half a liter twice a week and special nutritive formula every ten days. Now it seems it wants more. Thank you once again Marta Ps Until now I grew only potted orchids!
