I am planting 5 blueberry bushes in a sunny area. I'm a bit concerned about acidity level and not sure how to prep the site to ensure it is the best possible conditions.

Also it is in the area of a weeping maple (will be minimum 6 feet away from the trunk) - is this a concern as i saw one post about not planting near hardwoods. The maple is well established - easily 10-15 years old.

Vancouver on the Delta near the airport produces the finest blueberries possible. Growing in Vancouver in a backyard is sort of like taking sand to the Sinai Desert.

But the soil must be acidic. Get a pH meter and do some reading how to acidify soil. It takes some effort and sometimes the bushes produce little. Choose the cultivar carefully and do a tour of the growing areas to get some meaningful ideas if you decide to persist.

All the more so with the acidic precipitation of modern times local soils are likely to be quite acidic.
