I found this interesting tree growing near the local lake. I didn't have a proper camera with me but got these two with my mobile phone. the leaves are bipinnately compound much like a mimosa but much much smaller. I'm not sure how well you can see in these photos but it had red pods that were about an inch in length. Thanks,
Does it have thorns? Compare it to prairie acacia, Acaciella angustissima. Was it near Broken Bow Lake?
Thanks to both. It very well may be a mimosa, but the leaves are much smaller than the ones i'm used to seeing. I don't think it had thorns and the pods were tubular like a small pepper instead of flat like the acacia linked above. It was at Lake Murray in Carter Country. There are a lot of these growing around there but this was the largest. All of the others are less than a year old. None have matured enough to see the flowers, at least not while i've seen them.
