    Hello,

I live in Vancouver and walk past this small tree/upright shrub on my way to the bus. The seed heads are so lovely, they almost make me wish winter lasted longer. Any idea what it could be?

Not a Magnolia. Those seed pods are very distinctive, and I half-recognise them, but can't place what it is just now. Maybe inspiration will come later.
