Small Tree Identification

    I found some shrubs/small trees on a Rocky ledge. These are in MO USA, but I don't think they are rare or strongly regional as I believe I've seen them in other areas too.

    The first one I think is some kind of dogwood because the berries look like the ones on flowering dogwood. Maybe a dogwood shrub?

    Mystery #2 This one seemed to be growing as a small tree. Any idea what it could be?

    Leaves definitely look dogwood. Second one is a buckthorn.
