Can anyone suggest a small 20-30ft tree that isn't a slow grower that has a fairly wide canopy for its size, maybe 15- 20ft wide.

I have a fondness for the Smoke Tree (Cotinus coggygria).

I'm equally fond of the Flame Tree (Delonix regia) although I'm not sure if it would survive an Abbotsford winter....

Cotoneaster frigidus would work. I've got a load of Waxwings eating the berries on mine right now (first pic from November, second pic yesterday).

So would Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), a similarly attractive tree for Waxwings, and a very fast grower.
