I've altered the display of threads to show a maximum of 25 posts at a time instead of the previous limit of 400. I've noticed that letting long threads be displayed without pagination leads to a slowdown in displaying the thread on a highspeed connection, so I can only assume it takes more than a little while for those on dialup. Glad to see this has become a problem, though! It means a lot of back and forth going on. Very satisfying.
Is this something where users can set their own posts-per-page in their preferences? For those who do have high speed connections, it can be better to have them on one page so posts #25 and #26, #50 and #51, etc., can be read together without being split on separate pages.
Yes: My Settings -> Edit Options -> Number of Posts to Show Per Page Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages. Number of Posts to Show Per Page: 400
Ok, I've altered this setting again. You can now do the following: Set it to default which is 25 posts per page or... set it to 10, 30, 50, 100 or 400 posts per page. For those who are finding the Wollemi thread a bit long, this is my suggestion: My Settings -> Edit Options -> Number of Posts to Show per Page -> 50 posts per page will divvy it up into 3.5 pages or so.
