I have a dwarf skimmia that is sprouting from its red berries ON THE PLANT. I've never heard of this before. Can I plant these? Do they stay on and just fall off? Aren't they supposed to fall off and THEN sprout? Janet
It's not unusual with skimmia. And it happens with some plants. I have seen it with a number of tropical fruits as well. With other plants, the pulp or freshy part may actually inhibit germination - rose hips, e.g.. But on skimmia, this is a regular occurrence.
