I have a dwarf skimmia that is sprouting from its red berries ON THE PLANT. I've never heard of this before. Can I plant these? Do they stay on and just fall off? Aren't they supposed to fall off and THEN sprout?

It's not unusual with skimmia. And it happens with some plants. I have seen it with a number of tropical fruits as well. With other plants, the pulp or freshy part may actually inhibit germination - rose hips, e.g.. But on skimmia, this is a regular occurrence.
