today i read this news !for the wedding in the church Kate e William choice six big acer campestre(and two carpinus) this choise is cool!:)
Apparently these came from Highgrove and will be replanted there. (This is HRH the Prince of Wales estate). I thought the trees looked lovely at Westminster. And a super idea for a spring wedding. I suspect they were 'Elsrijk', does anyone concur? 'Queen Elizabeth' would have been more appropriate but the leaves looked wrong -- QE has quite an acuminate center lobe. Possible they were the species but the foliage looked very dark, and the form quite compact. -E
I loved the trees in the Abbey in lieu of flowers. I agree with emery that they added to the majesty of the Spring wedding. Nice touch that they will be planted at Highgrove in remembrance. Despite the inter-lingual pun, acers looked "sharp" in the Abbey.
Sorry, I meant TIC = "Tongue In Cheek", which means "You shouldn't take it too seriously". Numb fingers and an "AZERTYUIOP" keyboard... I don't know the expression in Italian, but in French, we say "C'est du second degré", and when it's really far-fetched or can be taken for really offensive by people who have no sense of humour, "c'est du troisième degré" ;O) Viva Porco Rosso! (紅の豚) (This is "second degré" ;O))
