I have a Silver Maple Tree about 3 years old. About 18 months ago it lost all leaves & appeared to be dead. A few months later 3 suckers started growing from the base. Now tree is about 15-18 ft. tall. Now it is loosing its leaves again. Weather here has been over 100 degrees. Have been watering every day, but does not appear to be helping. Would appreciate any advice as to how to get tree back in shape.

Might be a pathogenic infestation, in which case watering will continue to be ineffective in stopping defoliation and dieback.

Silver maples are weak trees to start with. I would get rid of the sick tree completely and try something else. Should be some Acer rumbrum varieties that would do well in your area. Much stronger tree and prettier in the fall, too.

Cultivars of the hybrid between the two, called A. x freemanii are also popular. Some of these are promoted as combining the drought tolerance of silver maple with the stronger fall color etc. of red maple.

Shatung maple is recommended for Texas specifically.
