My wife was given a kalanchoe a couple of weeks ago, which seemed in good health although it was in a rubbish pot. A couple of the leaves fell off, but a website told me this was nothing to worry about. I repotted it with some good soil, gave it plenty of water, and placed it in a warm position with plenty of natural light. But the leaves kept falling off. Worse, the stems kept breaking. I was worried that I might have damaged it while repotting, but even stems that were strong and healthy broke.

I'd be surprised if can be salvaged, but I'd be greatful for any suggestions as to what the problem could be, and what -- if anything -- can be done about it.

Could it be some sort of infection? If so, could it damage my beloved cacti that it's sharing a ledge with?

hi. You've done a lot to help your plant but remember, to the plant, it's all been very stressful so it might take some time to recover. The stems look like they are collapsing; are they slimy? I'd cut off all the bad stems, trying to get back to solid growth, and perhaps dust with a fungicide. Don't put it in with any other plants until you get it healthy again; I've managed to spread things by doing that. Best of luck.
