Identification: Shrub with Somewhat Wrinkly Leaves and Large 5-Petal Flowers that Open Downards

    Hello Everyone,

    Do you know what this plant is? It is roughly human height, has somewhat wrinkly leaves, and nicely sized flowers that are white, have 5 petals, and point downlards.

    Location : Pacific Ranges
    Elevation : 1100 m
    Season : Late July

    Rhododendron albiflorum, the most common montane shrub in the lower 2/3rds of BC.

    Characteristic of moist situations in the mountains, hard to cultivate in the lowlands. Native garden at UBCBG used to have at least one small specimen, don't know if it has persisted.
