Shrub with red berries

    An acquaintance showed me this picture today - the only photo he had - of a shrub growing in his neighborhood. This shrub was seen growing in the Ocean Park area of south Surrey, British Columbia .. and my knowledge of shrubs is notoriously bad. Does an ID jump out at anyone?

    For scale, you can see the Primula growing on the left side.
