I've searched and searched online to no avail. There are an awful lot of shrubs with flowers and berries out there. I didn't think much of this shrub wall until white flowers with tons of long filaments and large pink berries appeared. Are the berries edible? They don't look very appetizing. Also, anyone know what the bumps on the leaves are? They're concave underneath, so it looks like the leaves have simply grown that way, and not that it's something inside the leaves swelling them up. Thanks!
Looks like Eugenia myrtifolia. Common name Bush cherry. http://images.google.com/images?q=e...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
Sure does look like that's the answer, Silver surfer, and I think now I know what's causing those bumps on the leaves, too: the eugenia psyllid (Trioza eugeniae). My shrubs have their very own personalized attackers named after them! http://www.cnr.berkeley.edu/biocon/dahlsten/eugenia/eug-web.htm Thanks!
