    Hello,

I have found three of these shrubs in my garden.
Any help in identification would be great.
    I am in Barrie Ontario.
I have not seen any kind of flowers on these.

    Thanks
    Harold

Hibiscus syriacus, Rose of Sharon. It's a hardy hibiscus, yes, but not commonly called by that name.

Funny! Here, the term hardy hibiscus refers to Hibiscus moscheutos and others like it. Of course you probably call them mallows! Yet another reason for good old scientific names. They get easier over time. Though I had to look up how to spell syriacus. I always say syr-A-i-cus.

I have only moved to this house a year ago.
I have not seen the big flowers last year or this year to date.
Does this shrub have to mature to flower?

I just saw a few blooms in my neighborhood today, but things are a little early this year. I don't know how old a bush has to be to bloom, sorry. I would think they're like most shrubs...it takes a few years to get old enough to bloom. And then they start slowly with bloom count increasing with age. That's my guess.
