I found this amazing leaf the other day and photographed it. Never seen anything like it. The brown parts look like the leaf was dying/drying up from the inside out. Or is it a kind of blight or disease?

Anyway, I went back and got some photos of the shrub it fell from. Not much left of foliage at this time of year to help identify it, but hopefully someone out there will recognize it by its leaf shape, alternating stems, and bark. I found one other leaf on the ground that had a similar browning pattern on it (though nowhere near as strikingly beautiful), but the rest of the ones around (and the ones remaining on the shrub) did not have it.

Can post higher resolution versions of any of these if it will help. Was wary about using up too much space on the server for my first post.
