Having just moved into a new place last year in Portland, OR there are a bunch of shrubs and plants that I would like to have some id help with. This first one is a low ground cover that started to flower with these beautiful blue flowers last month.

The second is a shrub (there are several of them planted), the new growth has faded to pale green now, but earlier in spring it was bright pink and red.

This next shrub has two photos, one a closeup of these small white clusters of flowers, just a few left on the shrub, it bloomed last month for just a short time.

Then, in the backyard there is a ton of this ground cover, very big leaves.

Lastly, this one looks like a weed?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

2 a Pieris, 3 a daphne, maybe 'Carol Mackie', should be scented.

Thank you, yes, the Carol Mackie flowers were very scented. I was just reading up on it based on your information, looks like it can get quite large. I hope it has enough room. Thanks also for the id on the Pieris, it looked like it needed pruning, but from reading, maybe it doesn't.

I don't think it will be a problem for your cat. Arum grows in large patches here... and still the garden is frequented by numerous, very healthy, visiting cats!

Yes, that daphne can get 6-8' {2-2.5 m} across in time, some people recommend to never prune a daphne.

Whew, good. The backyard is a veritable sea of the stuff, I was just imagining getting out there and trying to pull it up. The cat goes out every morning and drinks water out of the leaves, they are like little troughs that collect the rain.

I think I can give it enough room over time by relocating all the lavender that has been planted around it. Thanks for the no-pruning tip, will leave it alone.
