Beautiful! I've no idea what it is, but if you want to pursue this; if you can reach mycologist Roland Treu, I'm betting he will know.

Amazing pictures - I wouldn't venture a guess as to what it could be. Roy Halling published a book on tropical fungi of Central America. He is here in the US and relatively easy to get a hold of.

GORGEOUS! That color is incredible. Something about the tropics is just the amazing variety of things we've yet to explore and identify. Good luck on you're search for a name!

    Slime mould? Egg & yolk?

Saw this at the bottom of Mt Kotakinabalu quite some time back. Any ideas what it is?

Clean forgot I asked this in July last year. But no definitive answer then either...

I suggest posting it on http://mushroomobserver.org/?_js=on&_new=true. That site has a more international crowd, and more experts than the few here (no offense intended to the great people on this board). They usually get an ID pretty quickly.

You're not wrong. It took someone calling himself 'Curecat' a bit under five minutes to propose the name Lepista sp. (Fr.) W.G. Sm.

Right! It does kind of look like Lepista nuda. Can you post the link to the precise post with your Lepista? Thanks.
