Many of these are growing under cedars next to the manure pile at a stable in Cobble Hill. I think they are shaggy parasols, but I'd like someone else's opinion before I (cautiously) try eating some. My samples are deteriorating somewhat from being inside for two days. The gills were lighter and unspotted when picked. Stem quickly turns orange, then brown, when wounded. Smells faintly "mushroomy."
This is very likely Chlorophyllum brunneum, one of the two common Shaggy Parasols in southwestern BC.
