SEX of the Palm ?

    Hi I have a Phoenix dactylifera(25 years old) in my garden many flowers product but no fruit,if ask to nursery this ,the reply is: you have palm "man or "women.Is a popular reply I think but the problem is realty es. if I ask one Cupressus Horizontalis for nursery is "women" if I ask Pyramidalis is "man "for Cupressus is simple but for palms where is the form for man or women? Or I planted another phoneix and ok for pollination ?alex66

    Yes, Phoenix dactylifera is dioecious, with separate male and female trees. So you will need a second plant of the other sex to produce fruit.

    Cupressus is monoecious, with male and female cones on the same plant; to call one tree 'male' and another 'female' is wrong with this species.

    Tanks Michael ,you have one idea how identification the sex of palm?
    some body have a photo man and women palm?
