Serviceberry would seem like a good choice for planting a single tree near the fenceline to add more privacy to the property. We don't want something that will take over the back yard. However, I am not sure if serviceberry would be hardy enough for Zone 3. Also, how quickly do they grow? Thank you for any information on other suggestions for this zone.

Thank you Ron. Is it a Saskatoon relative? Looks like it. We have them all over the hills and fields here. Maybe a wild one would do!

Saskatoon serviceberry. Certainly would be optimal to get one from the local population.
