Douglas Justice's September 2017 in the Garden | UBC Botanical Garden is about fuchsias and hummingbirds. I think the birds must have a thing for Douglas, because we did not see a single one anywhere in the garden. He said to watch for the hummingbirds to find the fuchsias. It's a good thing we knew what those flowers looked like anyway.

Instead of watching birds feeding on the flowers, I decided to focus on the fruits, since it was years before I realized these flowers even had fruits. Of course, the first one I looked at was just opening and had no fruits yet. This is Fuchsia 'Little Giant'.

There were olive-sized fruits on this F. 'Pat's Dream'. We didn't try tasting any of them.
